Glasses-Free 3D Monitors in the UK: 2026 Models and Prices

Updated

How we researched this: written by Owl3D from published sources, all 6 listed at the end.

Short answer

On 11 October 2026 two makers' UK stores showed us a glasses-free 3D monitor with a pound price and a buy button: Samsung's 27-inch Odyssey 3D at £1,499.00, and Lenovo's ThinkVision 27 3D at £2,399.00 "inc. VAT". A third, the 14-inch Owl3D Shift, can be ordered for the UK from Owl3D's own store. We read the stores from outside the UK; a UK visitor may see something else. Owl3D, the publisher of this guide, makes the Shift and sells it. The comparison is meant to be fair: the table is in alphabetical order by maker, not ranked.

Key takeaways

  • The price, buy button and stock label each UK store showed us: the three compared.
  • Samsung plays a list of supported games and converts 2D video; Lenovo shows 3D models, video and pictures in its apps and converts 2D; the Owl3D Shift converts whatever is in a window on the computer. See what decides which one.
  • None of the three makers describes plugging a 3D Blu-ray player or a games console straight in; see 3D Blu-rays and consoles.
  • For the Acer, Sony and Looking Glass screens we found no pound price; see what we could not find.

Samsung's page also printed "Want up to £500.00 off? Recycle your old monitor for an instant discount." and "If you don’t love it, return it within 14 days" [2]. Lenovo's product page showed neither; its footer links a "Right to Withdrawal" page [1]. Our Samsung guide, linked in the table, is written with US prices.

What we could not find in the UK

What decides which one

What you want to see in 3D

PC games. Samsung's manual says "Users can only view games that are compatible with Samsung Odyssey 3D Hub" [3]. Lenovo's UK page lists no games; it describes a kit "for developing stereoscopic 3D apps and games" [1]. The Shift has no list: it converts almost any game from the screen picture. That is an AI conversion, not stereo rendered from the game's geometry, and it does not work on games that block screen capture, as multiplayer competitive games and games with anti-cheat software often do.

Netflix and other paid streaming. Samsung says "3D conversion is not available for DRM content" [2]. Lenovo's UK page says nothing about copy-protected streams [1]. On the Shift it works in a web browser, with the browser's hardware acceleration turned off first; desktop streaming apps are not confirmed. On any of these, streaming is a 2D picture converted by software, not a film's own 3D version.

More kinds of content, maker by maker: what each screen plays.

3D Blu-rays and consoles

If your 3D TV has gone and the discs are still on the shelf, check this before buying. Samsung's manual says its monitors "can achieve normal 3D effects through Odyssey 3D Hub software only", and that 3D conversion needs that software "installed on a computer" [3]. Lenovo's UK page mentions neither disc players nor consoles [1]. The Shift shows 3D only from a computer running the Owl3D app, so a disc player or console cannot be plugged straight into it. A film played in a player program on that computer, from a disc or a file, is converted as it plays: the AI conversion again, not the disc's own 3D. Samsung's Hub also converts 2D video played full screen on the computer [2].

For the disc's own 3D on a computer, see playing a 3D Blu-ray on a PC; for the other routes, how to watch 3D films at home.

The computer you have

A Mac. The Shift works with Macs that have Apple silicon (M1 Pro or better recommended). Samsung's manual marks Mac "Not support" [3]. Lenovo's UK page does not say [1].

An AMD or Intel graphics card. Samsung's video conversion works with NVIDIA cards only [2]. For games its manual sets no minimum card for NVIDIA or AMD, and marks desktop Intel graphics "Support" and Intel notebook graphics "Not support" [3]. On the Shift, AMD graphics cards are not supported for real-time conversion; playing existing side-by-side 3D needs less, an NVIDIA GTX 1650 or Radeon RX 570 or better. Lenovo's UK page names no graphics card [1].

How many people can watch

All three track your eyes and show 3D to one viewer at a time [1][2][3]. The viewing distances given are 60 to 100 cm for Lenovo [1], 55 to 95 cm for Samsung [3] and about 45 to 100 cm for the Shift. How the lens does it: what is a lenticular lens.

The Owl3D Shift in the UK

The Owl3D Shift is our own product: a 14-inch glasses-free 3D display, used as a second monitor beside a computer. Drag any window onto it (a video, a game, a browser, photos) and it is converted to 3D in real time, as it plays. Its limits: it needs the computer in the table, has no built-in player, tuner, apps or disc drive, shows 3D to one person at a time with half the panel's width for each eye, and at 14 inches is a desk display beside your main monitor, not a replacement for one.

The United Kingdom is a delivery market in Owl3D's store. By the store's settings, read on 10 October 2026, a UK order is priced in pounds with taxes and duties included; delivery is not in that price and is added at checkout. Outside the UK the store showed us US dollars, so no figure is printed here.

Frequently asked questions

Is a glasses-free 3D monitor a normal monitor when 3D is off?

Yes, by the makers' own pages. Samsung lists the Odyssey 3D as a 4K monitor at up to 165Hz [2]. Lenovo says you can "Seamlessly switch between 2D and 3D content" [1]. The Owl3D Shift also works as an ordinary 2D 4K monitor, at 60 Hz.

What if I mean a 3D monitor that uses glasses?
