3D Films on Netflix, Sky and Disney+: What Streams in 3D in the UK

Updated

How we researched this: written by Owl3D from published sources, all 22 listed at the end.

Short answer

Not on Netflix, and nothing we found on Sky's site says it has any. FlatpanelsHD reported in July 2024 that Netflix "does not offer any content in 3D" [2], and a search of Netflix's help centre for "3D" brings up no article on 3D films [1]. Sky's UK help site returns "No results" for "3D" [3]. The one UK page we read that offers studio 3D films is Apple's: "You can also buy and rent 3D movies in the Apple TV app", on an Apple Vision Pro headset [4]. Disney+ plays 3D on that headset in the UK too, by two press reports. Every service page here was read on 11 October 2026.

Owl3D, the publisher of this guide, makes Owl3D Link and the Shift, named in one section below as a way to watch a 2D film converted to 3D.

Key takeaways

  • Netflix, Sky, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer: the pages of theirs we read say nothing on 3D. See the table.
  • Apple Vision Pro: 3D films to buy or rent in the Apple TV app, by Apple's UK page. Disney+ in 3D too, by press reports for the UK.
  • Meta Quest: Disney+ is 2D today by Disney's help page, and Meta's announcement of 3D from November names no country.
  • 3D TV or projector: no page we read offers 3D for one. The route is the disc.
  • No 3D on your service? A 2D film can be converted to 3D as it plays. That is an AI conversion, not the studio's 3D.

"3D" here means stereoscopic 3D: a separate picture for each eye, as at a 3D cinema showing. It does not mean computer animation.

3D films by service in the UK, October 2026

Where a service's page says nothing on 3D, the table says so. That is not the same as the service saying no.

ServiceWhat its own page says about 3DEdition we read
NetflixNothing: a help-centre search for "3D" brings up no article on 3D films [1]The general English help centre; the UK address led there
Sky, including Sky CinemaNothing: "No results" in help [3], and the Sky Cinema page does not mention 3D [5]UK
Disney+"Certain content is available in 3D only on Apple Vision Pro." [6]Taiwan; the UK address redirected there. See the UK reports
Apple TV app"You can also buy and rent 3D movies in the Apple TV app", on Apple Vision Pro [4]UK
Amazon Prime VideoNothing: its smart TV page lists picture quality "up to Ultra HD" and no 3D [7]primevideo.com, which showed no country
Google TVIf you own a film's 3D version, "you can only play its 3D version on an Android XR device" [8]UK English; no country named
YouTube"You can upload and play back 3D videos" [9]: videos that people uploadUK English
BBC iPlayerNothing: "Sorry, there are no results found" for "3D" in help [10]UK

Is 3D back on Sky?

Nothing we found on Sky's site says so. Sky did have a 3D channel: "Europe's first dedicated 3D television channel has launched in the UK", BBC Newsbeat reported on 1 October 2010 [11]. What Hi-Fi? reported on 27 April 2015 that "The Sky 3D channel will be removed in June and all of the 3D content will instead only be available on demand" [22]. Today a search of Sky's UK help site for "3D" returns no result [3], and its Sky Cinema page does not mention 3D [5]. We found no Sky page that says whether any 3D is still there on demand.

What one viewer reports. On the Blu-ray.com forum on 10 January 2026, a Sky customer who gives Glasgow as their location wrote: "I randomly check my Sky TV to see if any 3D content appears and my jaw nearly hit the floor when I saw Monster/Happy Family 3D available on Sky Cinema. Could this be the start of something new?" [12]. That is one person's report of a title they saw listed; the post does not say the film played in 3D. We have not tested it, and nothing on Sky's pages confirms it.

Disney+ in 3D in the UK

Disney's help centre says 3D plays "only on Apple Vision Pro" [6], and that on Meta Quest "all content is only available to stream in 2D on Quest devices at this time" [13]. Both pages reached us in the Taiwan edition, so we do not state what the UK edition says.

For the UK we have two press reports, not a Disney page. UploadVR reported on 11 February 2026 that it had reviewed Disney's support pages for four countries, and that the German and French ones carried a notice that 3D was unavailable: "In the UK, meanwhile, 3D content remains listed as supported" [14]. FlatpanelsHD reported on 12 March 2026 that Disney+ had restored 3D in Europe after removing it in a patent dispute, and added an update: "It is restored in the UK and Europe, except Germany, according to user reports, contrary to Disney's statements" [15].

For Meta headsets, Meta wrote on 23 September 2026 that Disney+ subscribers can start streaming films "in 3D in select countries" in November, and that people will be able to "rent or buy hundreds of movies later this year on Meta Quest in the US" [16]. The post names no country for Disney+. Plans and the steps on a Vision Pro are in Disney+ in 3D, which is written for US readers.

What each device plays, at UK prices

Apple Vision Pro"From £3,499" [17]Apple TV app [4]; Disney+ by the reports above
Samsung Galaxy XR"£1,699.00" [18]Not confirmed for the UK: Google's page names no headset model and no country [8]
Meta Quest 3 and 3S"£549.99"; the 3S starts at "£319.99" [19], [20]None we could confirm; Disney+ is 2D [13]
3D TV or projector—None on any page we read

A 3D TV or projector: the disc

No page we read offers 3D films to a TV or projector, so the disc is the way to watch a studio's 3D on one. 3D Blu-rays are on sale in the UK: on 11 October 2026 Zavvi listed the Avatar: Fire and Ash 3D SteelBook at "£31.99", "In stock" [21]. Players and discs are covered in our 3D Blu-ray guide; it is written for US readers, so its shops and prices are American.

Your service has no 3D: a 2D film converted to 3D as it plays

This is not the studio's 3D version. It is an AI conversion: software estimates depth from a flat 2D picture, instantly, while the film plays. Owl3D Link is an app for Meta Quest headsets. With the Owl3D app running on a Windows PC that has an NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics card or better, it streams what is on the PC to the headset wirelessly, converted from 2D to 3D in real time. Owl3D Link is free to use; on the free plan a session lasts 15 minutes and the picture carries a watermark. Without a headset, the Owl3D Shift, a 14-inch glasses-free 3D display used as a second monitor, does the same for one viewer at a time; it needs a Windows PC with an NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics card or newer, or a Mac with Apple Silicon. With both, Netflix and other copy-protected streaming works when it plays in a web browser on the computer with the browser's hardware acceleration turned off. We have not tested either with Sky, NOW or Disney+ and do not say it works there. The Shift's price is on its store page, shown for the visitor's country.
