Disney+ 3D Movies: Which Devices, Which Plan, Which Countries

Updated

How we researched this: written by Owl3D from published sources, all 10 listed at the end.

Short answer

Yes, Disney+ has 3D movies, and by Disney's help pages, read on October 11, 2026, they play on one device, the Apple Vision Pro headset: "Certain content is available in 3D only on Apple Vision Pro" [1]. On Meta Quest, Disney says "all content is only available to stream in 2D on Quest devices at this time" [2]. Meta wrote on September 23, 2026: "In November, Disney+ subscribers can start streaming movies" in 3D "in select countries" [6]. That sentence names no headset, no country and no day. Owl3D, the publisher of this guide, makes Owl3D Link and the Shift, named in one section below as a way to watch a 2D film converted to 3D.

Key takeaways

  • A 3D TV, a projector, a phone or a computer gets Disney+ in 2D only; see the device table.
  • The Disney help page we read lists 3D under both the Standard and the Premium plan; see which plan.
  • We found no list of countries on Disney's or Meta's pages; see which countries.
  • On a Meta Quest, Disney+ is 2D today. Meta announced Disney+ in 3D for November 2026 without naming a headset; see Meta Quest.
  • No Vision Pro? A 2D film can be converted to 3D as it plays. That is an AI conversion, not Disney's 3D.

Which devices play Disney+ in 3D?

One. This is what Disney's help pages said on October 11, 2026, in the Taiwan edition the site served us.

DeviceDisney+ in 3D?
Apple Vision ProYes. "Certain content is available in 3D only on Apple Vision Pro" [1]. Disney announced it for February 2, 2024 [4]
Meta Quest 2, 3 and 3SNo, 2D "at this time" [2]. Disney's listing in Meta's store says "Soon", with no date [7]
3D TV, 3D projector, streaming box, phone, tablet, computerNo. Disney's word is "only" [1]

Last checked : Disney's help pages for video quality, Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest.

So a 3D TV or projector does not get the 3D version from Disney+. For those screens the studio's 3D comes on disc: see 3D Blu-ray in 2026. For Netflix, Apple TV and the other services, see which streaming services have 3D.

How to find and play the 3D movies on Apple Vision Pro

  1. Install the app and sign in. Disney lists what you need: a Vision Pro, a Disney+ subscription, and the Disney+ app for visionOS from the App Store. The newest app may need the latest visionOS [3].
  2. Open the 3D Collection. It is an icon in the app's navigation bar, and it holds the 3D titles [3].
  3. Press play. "3D content will automatically play in 3D" [1]. To check one title, open its Details tab, which shows the video formats it has [1].

If it buffers. Disney lists three things to try: lower the data usage setting; download the title and play it from Downloads; or go to App Settings > Video Playback and turn off the "Watch in 3D (if applicable)" switch, which streams the title in 2D [3].

Which movies? Disney's announcement of January 16, 2024 named Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Elemental and Encanto among "dozens of popular movies in 3D" [4]. Apple wrote the same day that "Several streaming apps, including Disney+, will offer 3D versions of their latest and most popular movies on Vision Pro at launch" [8]. On August 5, 2024 Disney added four Marvel Studios films, among them Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man and the Wasp [5]. Those are announcements from 2024. We have not seen today's 3D Collection on a headset, so we do not say that any one title is in it now.

Which Disney+ plan do you need for 3D?

Disney's video quality page lists the formats that come with each plan. The edition we read names two plans, and the same line appears under both Disney+ Standard and Disney+ Premium: "3D: Certain content is available in 3D only on Apple Vision Pro." [1]

Its Vision Pro page lists "A subscription to Disney+" and names no plan [3]. Disney's announcement of January 2024 called it a new way to stream "at no additional cost" for subscribers who have the headset [4].

Which countries have Disney+ in 3D?

We found no list of countries on the Disney and Meta pages we opened. What they say is this:

  • Disney, about travelling with a Vision Pro: "Some 3D content may be available as well depending on where you are located" [3].
  • Meta, under its November announcement: "Availability of 3D playback on Disney+ varies by region. Some titles shown may not be available in 3D in your country." [6]

Disney's page gives one check for a single title: its Details tab shows which video formats are available [1].

Europe, early 2026. This part rests on two press reports, not on Disney pages we read. UploadVR reported on February 11, 2026 that it had reviewed Disney's support pages and that "In Germany and France, a notice states that 3D is currently unavailable", while "In the UK, meanwhile, 3D content remains listed as supported" [9]. FlatpanelsHD reported on March 12, 2026 that Disney told it in a statement: "Dolby Vision and 3D support have now been restored on Disney+." The same FlatpanelsHD report carries an update: "It is restored in the UK and Europe, except Germany, according to user reports, contrary to Disney's statements." [10]

Disney+ 3D on Meta Quest: 2D today, and what Meta said about November

Not yet. Disney's help page for Meta Quest, which covers models 2, 3 and 3S, says: "Please note all content is only available to stream in 2D on Quest devices at this time." [2] The Disney+ listing in Meta's store, read on October 11, 2026, says: "Soon, you will be able to experience select favorite stories in 3D* with one of our exclusive Disney+ environments." It gives no date [7].

Meta's announcement of September 23, 2026 reads: "In November, Disney+ subscribers can start streaming movies like Marvel’s The Avengers, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, and more in 3D in select countries, with themed immersive viewing environments like Tatooine, Avengers Tower, and Scare Floor." [6] The sentence names no headset, no country, no plan and no day in November. It stands in the post that introduces Meta VR Glasses, a new device Meta says is "Launching in Spring 2027" [6].

No Vision Pro: a 2D film converted to 3D as it plays

This is not Disney's 3D version, and it does not bring Disney's 3D to another device. It is an AI conversion: software estimates depth from a flat 2D picture, instantly, while the film plays. Owl3D Link is an app for Meta Quest headsets. With the Owl3D app running on a Windows PC that has an NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics card or better, it streams what is on the PC to the headset wirelessly, converted from 2D to 3D in real time. Owl3D Link is free to use; on the free plan a session lasts 15 minutes and the picture carries a watermark. Without a headset, the Owl3D Shift, a 14-inch glasses-free 3D display used as a second monitor, does the same for one viewer at a time; it needs a Windows PC with an NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics card or newer, or a Mac with Apple Silicon. With both, Netflix and other copy-protected streaming works when it plays in a web browser on the computer with the browser's hardware acceleration turned off. We have not tested either with Disney+ and do not say it works there. For a Quest, see watching a 2D movie in 3D with Owl3D Link.

Frequently asked questions

Is IMAX Enhanced on Disney+ the same as 3D?

No. Disney lists them as two formats, and says that "IMAX Enhanced on Disney+ only includes an expanded aspect ratio and enhanced sound with DTS:X" [1].

Can you download Disney+ 3D movies to watch offline?

On a Vision Pro, yes, by Disney's help page: "if you want to take your favorite 3D shows and movies with you, you can download them to your Vision Pro" [3].

What is Disney Immersive Cinema?

A separate app that Meta announced with its new headset: "When Meta VR Glasses launch in the spring, you can watch VR Enhanced versions of iconic films like Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: A New Hope in the new Disney Immersive Cinema by ILM app." [6] Meta's post does not say whether a Disney+ subscription covers it.
